Programs and Events

We’re proud to offer a variety of programs and events throughout the year for all ages. Here are some of the events you can count on at the Burke Public Library:

Summer Reading Program

A favorite for kids and families, for grades PreK–5th. Join us each summer for our reading program filled with fun and learning. We kick off the season with a Movie Night in the Park that ties into our annual theme. Kids can enjoy a special book reading, craft, and snack, and we often bring in an entertainer mid-summer for the whole family to enjoy.

Tween Reading Challenge

Each summer, kids ages 10–18 can join our reading challenge by tracking their minutes throughout June and July. Participants earn fun prizes along the way, and we celebrate their hard work with a Pizza Party at the end!

Silent Book Club

For ages 16 and up. Bring whatever you’re reading and enjoy a relaxed evening of quiet reading alongside others. There are no assigned books—just good company, snacks, and time to unwind. Participants can also enjoy reading goal prizes, raffle drawings at each meeting, and a pizza party to wrap up the season.

Toddler Tuesday

Every first Tuesday of the month September- April. For ages 2–5. Perfect for our youngest readers! Each session includes stories, a yummy snack, and a simple activity or craft designed to build early literacy skills and a love of reading.

Digital Duel

Every month November-February. For high schoolers only. Test your skills and have some fun with friendly video game competitions at the library! A great way for participants to connect, compete, and enjoy a little friendly rivalry in a welcoming environment with snacks!

Seasonal & Holiday Events

From crafts and themed storytimes to special movie events, we offer fun activities throughout the year as we celebrate the seasons and holidays together. Favorites include our Dog Days weekend and festive Christmas-time events.
